Just Two Members Of The 106th Senate Take A Stand For Notch Reform

Although renewed support for Notch Reform is growing steadily in the House of Representatives, the same cannot be said for the Senate. TSCL members are urged to pay particular attention to Senate races. To date, S. 390 "The Notch Fairness Act of 1999" sponsored by Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) has picked up only one cosponsor, Senator Joseph Liberman (D-CT). The Notch Fairness Act would allow those born from 1917 through 1926 to choose either an improved monthly benefit or Lump Sum payments totaling $5,000 over four years. The legislation would be paid for from the budget surplus. Contact your Senators and ask them to cosponsor S.390, "The Notch Fairness Act of 1999".
