Winner of TSCL`s `MVP` Award For Legislative Excellence 2000 TREA Senior Citizens League named Senator Joseph I. Lieberman of Connecticut, the running mate of Vice President Al Gore in the recent presidential elections, as the Winner of the TSCL "MVP" Award for Legislative Excellence in 2000. Senator Lieberman is one of only two members of the U.S. Senate to take a stand for Notch Reform during this past session of Congress. He is a co-sponsor of S.390, "The Notch Fairness Act," which would allow those born from 1917 through 1926 to choose either an improved monthly benefit or Lump-Sum payments totaling $5,000 over four years. "TSCL considers it significant that Senator Lieberman has distinguished himself from most of his other colleagues in the Senate by exhibiting the courage to take a stand for ending the Notch disparity this session. He's known for his integrity and good values, 'for placing life's most important things in front of politics.' His position on Notch Reform is clear evidence of why he has earned his good reputation. We are very pleased to recognize Senator Lieberman for his legislative contributions with this award."-Michael Zabko, Executive Director, TREA Senior Citizens League.
