Dear Leonard: In Love With the Medicine Cabinet?
Dear Leonard, I am 78 years of age, and I have my house up for sale. It is attracting unusually high interest. My agent tells me that my price is right. My reason for writing is to report an unusual observation -- potential buyers visiting my bathroom seemed enamored with the mirror on my medicine cabinet. Any clue as to why? My agent tells me it is standard and not considered an antique. -- FGL, Bethesda, MD Dear FGL, The question that comes to mind is, "what is there of value in your medicine cabinet?" I can only come up with one clue. Drugs! As we get older, many of us require mild sedatives to lull us to sleep. Some may require something stronger, possibly for arthritis or back pain. Drug addicts DO attend real estate open houses so that they may have easy access to drugs used by seniors. Many comb the papers looking for real estate "open sesame's" in established neighborhoods to steal drugs. Bottom Line: Remove all drugs from medicine cabinets if you plan to place your home on the market for sale. Also, it is a good idea to alert your Real Estate Agent of this fact.
