H.R. 709 TOTAL OVERHAUL of TOTALIZATION AGREEMENTS LAW of 2007

Congressman Elton Gallegly (CA-24) introduced H.R. 709 on January 29, 2007. This legislation would amend the Social Security Act to restrict totalization agreements between the U.S. and other countries. Additionally, H.R. 709 also prohibits crediting persons under the Social Security Act with earnings from employment or self-employment in the United States performed while individuals are not citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent residents of the United States and are not authorized by law to be employed in the United States.
