The Notch Fairness Act would allow Notch Babies born from 1917 through 1926, or survivors who receive benefits on their account, a choice of a $5,000 lump-sum, or an improved monthly benefit.  The best place to find information on Notch legislation and about the Notch in general, is TSCL's website.

You may also check the progress of "The Notch Fairness Act" by using "THOMAS" the online legislative information from the Library of Congress at: http://thomas.loc.gov/.  To use the web site to search for legislation you may type in either a word or phrase contained in the legislation or the bill number if you know it.  By typing in "The Notch Fairness Act" and clicking the "Search" button, you will pull up a link to the legislation (H.R. 368).  Clicking that link takes you to a web page with the text of the bill.  By clicking the link marked "Bill Summary & Status" you will be taken to another page where you can learn the number of co-sponsors of the bill and the legislative status.  Clicking on the co-sponsors link for example will provide you with a list of the House Members who have signed on as co-sponsors.  You can check this list to see if your Representative has co-sponsored the bill yet.

Your contact with your Member of the U.S. House by mail or email helps build co-sponsorship needed to move "The Notch Fairness Act" to the floor for a vote.  Please help us by contacting your Representative and asking him or her to co-sponsor "The Notch Fairness Act" H.R. 368.
