On Tuesday, House lawmakers advanced two Senate-passed bills that will reduce prescription drug prices at pharmacies if signed into law. The Patient Right to Know Drug Prices Act (S. 2554) will prohibit "gag clauses" that prevent pharmacists from telling consumers when it would be cheaper to purchase their prescriptions out-of-pocket rather than through their health insurance. The survey asked for information about the out-of-pocket costs that respondents paid in the first six months of 2011, and for comments about how they were managing after two years of receiving no annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA). .The federal contribution would be redirected from disaster relief money at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Conrad's budget proposal is expected to spur serious negotiations on a long-term solution, but it is not expected to win passage. In fact, the Senate will not even vote on or make amendments to the proposal. Sen. Conrad has said that "the timing is not yet right" for a vote, but most have blamed Majority Leader Reid (NV) for refusing to bring a budget proposal to the floor in the midst of an election year. Many Senators, it seems, are beginning to look at the post-election, lame-duck session as the prime opportunity to tackle the deficit. As Sen.
