World`s Oldest Woman Dies

According to London's Associated Press, the world's oldest woman died peacefully in her sleep at the Autumn House Nursing Home in central England on Thursday. Eva Morris, declared as the oldest women by the World Guinness Book of Records in March, would have been 115 years old, six days short from the day she died. Her death came a week after Britain's oldest man died at age 108.

Eva Morris was born in Newcastle-under-Lyme, England in 1885. She was widowed in the 1930's and lived independently until she was 107 years old, and moved to the nursing home after a chest infection. Her only child died in 1975 at the age of 62 succumbing to cancer.

What was Morris' secret for her longevity ? Whisky and boiled onions. She seemed healthy for most part of her life, except for chest infections attributed to old age. Although Morris became deaf and had limited eye sight, she was very independent.
