Congressional Response: Representative Sue Myrick (R-9th, North Carolina) Responds To Your Notch Reform Petition

The Social Security "notch" issue has been a concern for some time. There are several proposals that will revise the Social Security benefit formula to compensate these so-called "notch babies" by providing these individuals the option to either receive their additional benefits on an increased payment schedule or receive a lump sum payment of $5,000 over four years. I helped introduce similar proposals in previous Congresses, but we still don't have enough votes to get it passed. Rest assured, I will continue to work to ensure that our government honors its commitment to Social Security beneficiaries.
